STORY BEHIND YOUR PSEUDO:

BESOK! I’ve chosen that name back in 1990 because I liked the harmony of the letter shapes between each other. Today I think differently – that’s why I play with the position of the letters within my name and create other names but still using the same letters. Names like Kobes, Keobs, Skebo… are more fun to write although people mostly don’t get the connection.

FIRST AND RECENT GRAFFITI EXPERIENCES:

It happened in 1990 in my hometown Augsburg in Germany. I was skating every day and dropped into some other skaters doing tags and beautiful pieces. That’s when I have crossed the river of no return as Graffiti back then was such a magic thing. I totally got sucked into it. In the past from 1995 until 2000, I have joined many, many, many Hip Hop Jams!

INFLUENCES AND INSPIRATION:

Back then: Vaughn Bodé, Bates (Denmark), Mode2, WON (ABC), Lazoo, PCP (Paris), Loomit, Codeak, The ultimate Bible “Subway Art”… The list of inspiration is endless! My mentor was Codeak with whom I founded the TAF crew in 1994 (The artful fumes). I wouldn’t know where to start and stop telling you where inspiration comes from!

OTHER EXPERIENCES THAT HAVE HELPED SHAPING YOUR STYLE:

Travelling other countries/continents and feeling/observing/listening to the Nature, Wildlife, Culture, Music and rhythm of life and death!

FAVORITE SPOTS TO PAINT GRAFFITI:

Unusual spots, hooks and corners, turbulent surfaces which invite to combine its structure/elements into the illustration/story of the painting.

PERCEPTION OF THE CURRENT GRAFFITI SCENE IN YOUR COUNTRY:

Lots of great artists but hardly any new developments anymore. The majority simply copies the past (style and technic) over and over again. Only a few dare to stick out and create something never seen before. But it’s not easy anyway!!

3 WORDS THAT WOULD BEST DEFINE YOUR STYLE:

Down to Earth!

CHARACTERISTICS THAT SET YOU APART IN THE GRAFFITI SCENE:

Pooh, difficult question. I’d rather leave this answer to others who know me better than I know myself. I don’t see myself as a Graffiti Artist as I hardly ever write my name these days. I am an Illustrator, spray can artist. If I would write my name it’s always hidden somewhere in the Illustration but it’s not my main target. I think my choice of colors (very earthy coffee colors since 2009) is important to me.

WHAT IS GRAFFITI ALL ABOUT TO YOU?

An extraterrorrestrial Artform with no limits.
Freedom and fun! Sometimes even fed me.

WHAT DOES TAHITI REPRESENT TO YOU?

I dunno much about this side of the earth! I remember the movie: Mutiny on the Bounty… and the Book: Nation by Terry Pratchett.

Clean and fresh sea, peace, big wave surfing, lots of seafood… I hope for a great time and will do my best to paint something nice for the people. I wish I could skip the 26 hours of travelling time to Tahiti.
